CPA Exam Syllabus & Sections, 2023

Syllabus:

The CPA exam is a rigorous assessment spanning a total of 16 hours, strategically crafted to evaluate candidates’ proficiency and understanding in four key subjects: Auditing and Attestation, Financial Accounting, and Reporting, Regulations, and Business Environment Concepts. Each subject within the exam has a duration of four hours. Aspiring candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for the CPA exam should thoroughly review the following syllabus, taking note of the weightage assigned to each topic. This will help them in preparing effectively and focusing their efforts in accordance with the exam’s structure and content.

The CPA exam is a demanding assessment that evaluates candidates' knowledge and proficiency in key accounting subjects. By thoroughly preparing and focusing their efforts, candidates can increase their chances of success and pursue a rewarding career as a certified public accountant.

Sections:

There are four sections of the CPA exam, subject-wise. Auditing and Attestation, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Regulations, and Business Environment Concepts. CPA is a 4-hour long exam divided into four sections. The candidates must complete all these sections within the 18-month testing window. They may select any section in any order during one open testing window. The candidates can take up to any number of tests during the same window. However, there’s a slight hitch. Candidates are not allowed to retake a specific section of the exam within the same testing window. In the case of a failure in any part of the exam, they will have to wait until the next testing window opens to make another attempt at that particular section.

By understanding the exam structure and retake policy, candidates can effectively plan their study schedules, make strategic choices regarding section order, and maximize their chances of passing the CPA exam within the given testing window.
